New York Sash is proud to support creative community initiatives, especially those that our team members are involved in. Handshake.City is a project by our Director of Marketing, Katie Reilly.

Handshake.City container park is a collaboration of green space, art gallery, urban marketplace and event venue. With three renovated shipping containers, a previously abandoned lot and an indoor warehouse, we offer an opportunity for community, culture and commerce to come together for the benefit of Utica and its residents.

“Our mission is to create a scalable, revenue generating urban container park that will be a rich & dynamic visual, cultural & intellectual outdoor experience; to enhance the values of its vendors and neighbors by continuous development; to increase walkability among downtown districts; and to offer prime cultural, artistic and commercial events.“

“We hope our memberships give people a way to have an intimate, ongoing relationship with Handshake.City. Membership dues will provide immediate and unrestricted funds for use towards park improvements while serving as a predictable and ongoing funding base for future projects.“

Short-term rental options at Handshake.City are ideal for smaller start-ups that want more flexibility and less overhead than what traditional leases offer- or as a seasonal secondary location to an existing store front. Working as an interim landlord for smaller businesses, Handshake.City helps people who might be excluded from renting downtown commercial property, get there business idea in front of local consumers.
