Here at New York Sash we offer composite and vinyl decking. Each of these types of decking are made by the brand CertainTeed. Both are hassle free and great alternatives to the very common wood decking that tends to come with a lot of maintenance.
According to CertainTeed you should clean your vinyl or composite deck at least twice per year to remove pollen and dirt from the surface and help keep it looking good.
Tips from CertainTeed are:[list-ul type=”circle”] [li-row]Sweep your deck to get leaves and debris off of it before cleaning. [/li-row] [li-row]Do not use harsh cleaners on your deck.[/li-row] [li-row]Use a basic soap and water mixture or a mild household cleaner to clean.[/li-row] [li-row]When scrubbing accumulated dirt, it is best to scrub in the direction of the grain.[/li-row] [li-row]Keep debris out of the gaps between the boards. When it rains, the water will help pollen and organic debris rinse off of the deck in between the gaps and keep it clean.[/li-row] [li-row]A broom or blower will usually work better than a hose for removing scattered leaves.[/li-row] [/list-ul]
Composite decks come with a stain and fade warranty and are resistant to termites and decay. Our vinyl decks have excellent color retention, no visible screws or exposed hardware, and will not stain from spills. Both of these types of decks are cool to the touch, barefoot friendly, and are perfect for a low maintenance lifestyle.
